Gordon Ramsay’s BurGR

June 29, 2015

I am a huge fan of Chef Gordon Ramsay.  I watch Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Masterchef, Masterchef Jr., and etc.  It has almost become a tradition/habit for me to eat at Gordon Ramsay’s Steak and BurGR every time I am paying a visit to Las Vegas, NV.  Ramsay sometimes makes appearances at his restaurants so if I’m lucky, maybe I will bump into him.

If you’re a huge Gordon Ramsay fan like me, you are in for a treat!  I am going to review 3 of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants all on the Vegas strip:  Steak, BurGR, and Pub & Grill.  Since I don’t want to make just a single blog entry be super long, I will just review BurGR in this one.

BurGR is located inside of Planet Hollywood.  If you are lost and can’t find the place, feel free to ask a casino employee.  They can point you to the right direction or just go towards where you see a long ass line.  Yes, this restaurant usually has a long line just to get a table.  However, trust me, the wait is worth it!  If you go there early enough when they first open for the day, you might not have to wait so long.  If you have to wait for a table, I highly recommend that you spend this time wisely and sign up for a Total Rewards card at a casino front desk.  It is free to sign up and there are a whole bunch of perks to being a Total Rewards member such as discounted prices at restaurants and free rooms at hotels.  BurGR is a pretty casual eatery so there is no need to dress up unless you choose to do so.  It is a great place to bring a date.

As far as the food goes, obviously this is mainly a burger joint since the name of the restaurant is BurGR after all.  There are also side snacks and dishes to order such as roasted jalapeno poppers, shakes, truffle parmesan fries, fresh roasted chili dawgs, and so much more!  I have eaten at this restaurant three times and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed everything so far.  The burger that I recommend ordering is the Hell’s Kitchen Burger!  After you have eaten this burger, it will probably ruin all burgers for you after that which is pretty unfortunate, but at least you will have had the best burger ever made.  I wasn’t a big burger fan coming to this restaurant and the Hell’s Kitchen Burger did it for me.  It is a yummy burger that is made up of a patty that has three different types of ground meat, fresh roasted buns, asadero cheese, roasted jalapeno peppers, avocado, and oven roasted tomato.  For those who don’t enjoy spicy foods, don’t worry, the jalapeno peppers are not overwhelmingly strong to where your mouth will be burning.  It gives the burger a slight pop in flavor.  The waiter will ask you how you like your meat to be cooked.  This burger is so good and packs a load of flavor that you will not need any condiments.  The burger is also the perfect size.  It is not too little and not too big.  You can definitely order many burgers and cut it in half and share with others so you can sample all the burgers there.

The prices for the food is a little on the pricey side, but for those who don’t live in Vegas, how often to do you go to Vegas?  I say go big or go home!  Experience something new.  I have not had a burger in Sacramento that tasted remotely close to Gordon Ramsay’s burgers.  The Hell’s Kitchen burger is $14 and it is $13 for Total Rewards members.  I have ordered the Hell’s Kitchen Burger every time I have gone to BurGR so if you order anything, I highly recommend ordering this one!

Farm Burger

Farm Burger

The Farm Burger consists of the same fresh roasted buns with duck breast bacon, english sharp cheddar, and a fried egg.   This burger was good, but Hell’s Kitchen burger is definitely better than this one in my opinion.  If you are more of a salty fan, you will probably love this burger.  The Farm Burger is $15 and for Total Rewards members, it is $14.

Special for the day.

I honestly can’t recall the name of this burger since it was brand new at the time and it was not on the menu yet.  It tasted almost just like the Hell’s Kitchen Burger, but had bacon in it as well as a different type of cheese.  I am not a huge fan of bacon so I thought this burger was good, but still not as good as Hell’s Kitchen burger!

Fresh Roasted Chili Dawg

The Fresh Roasted Chili Dawg consists of roasted fresno pepper, jalapenos, cheddar cheese, avocado, red onion, and chipotle ketchup.  This dawg was humongous and pretty messy when you’re trying to eat it.  It can definitely be split into two and shared.  The dawg itself was pretty good, but I probably would not order it again just because there are so many other things on the menu that are way better to order.  The Fresh Roasted Chili Dawg is $13 while the price for Total Rewards members is $12.

Truffle Parmesan Fries

The Truffle Parmesan Fries are hand cut fries with truffle parmesan, truffle salt, and truffle aioli.  This sounds like a truffle fan’s dream come true!  I’m not a huge fries person to begin with, but after reading a whole bunch of Yelp reviews about these fries, I had to try them.  I was definitely not disappointed.  I thought they were delicious!  As anyone who is a fan of Ramsay’s, we all know that he will take something “normal” and add a twist to it.  Well, the two dipping sauces that came with the fries were not just your everyday regular ketchup.  I think it was some sort of curry ketchup and chipotle ketchup, but they went well with the fries.  The portion is also huge so ordering just one should be enough for a whole group!  Don’t order too many otherwise you will not have room to try the other burgers!  🙂   The Truffle Parmesan Fries is $11 and is $10 for Total Rewards members.

Roasted Jalapeno Poppers

The inside of a Roasted Jalapeno Popper.

The Roasted Jalapeno Poppers come with six poppers that have cheddar bacon on the inside.  They are brought to the table in what looks like 6 shot glasses filled with a cheddar ranch dressing at the bottom.  Out of the 6 jalapeno poppers, there is one that has a “fiery” surprise.  This makes it kind of fun if you are sharing it with a group of people.  It’s almost like a game of Russian  Roulette.  There is no way to tell who will get the spicy popper.  My Boo and I had asked our waiter to give us two fiery surprises since we both love spicy foods.  We ate all of the poppers and honestly could not tell which one was considered to be “fiery.”  Like I had mention before, Ramsay is known for putting a twist to your everyday regular dishes.  These poppers are not like your regular poppers so I say give them a try!  For non-members, this “snack” will cost $12, and for Total Rewards members, it is $11.

Britannia Burger

Britannia Burger

The Britannia Burger has english sharp cheddar, arugula, and mango chutney.  This burger was surprisingly delicious.  It had a hint of sweetness from the mango chutney, but I think it was done in good taste because the sweetness was not overwhelming at all.  For someone who does not like sweets, I thought it was good!  The Britannia Burger is $14 and for Total Rewards members, it is $13.

Overall, the food is awesome!  I honestly don’t think you can go wrong on ordering anything on the menu.  I have not tried everything on the menu, but the items I did order, I enjoyed.  The atmosphere of the place is casual and open.  The front of the place does open out into the casino so the place does get a little loud sometimes.  I think the only downside of the place is that some of the seating is not as intimate and you feel like you’re just an arm length away from the next table if you’re not sitting in a booth.  Also, the seats for some reason are super close to the ground which is weird.  You feel like you need a booster seat.  It is not a place to sit for those with hip/knee replacements and such.  There is bar seating for those who don’t want to sit so close to the ground.  In addition, there is no bathroom inside the restaurant so you would have to walk out of the restaurant and use the casino’s bathroom which is directly across from the restaurant.  Remember, the restaurant is inside the casino so it’s not like you’re having to make a long trek to the bathroom or even step outside onto the strip.  You are still inside the casino and you are literally just taking a couple steps to go to the bathroom.  It is really no biggie.  As far as the service goes, it has been an okay experience.  It isn’t horrible and it isn’t the best I’ve experienced either.  The wait for the food isn’t too long.  Warning, if you’re on a diet or don’t like greasy finger foods, this is not the place for you!

If you’re a fan of burgers or Chef Gordon Ramsay, give BurGR a try and let me know what you think!
