Hello! I have reviewed the other Gordon Ramsay restaurants located in Las Vegas, Nevada in my previous blog entries so I thought I should finally review Steak! I have dined at Steak at least three times now which means I give the place a thumbs up! If you have never been, you need to at least check it out once. The dress code is not super formal or strict, but I highly don’t recommend wearing flip flops and jeans there. Steak is located on the inside of the Paris hotel and it is always a smart idea to make reservations ahead of time. I usually use my OpenTable app to make the reservations with no problems!
The entrance of the restaurant is a tunnel that is supposed to be a replica of the Chunnel which is a tunnel that connects London to Paris in Europe. Upon entering, straight ahead is the bar, and to the right is the dining area which has two levels. If you want an intimate dinner setting, request to be seated on the second level. I have dined on both levels before and the first floor seems to have way too much traffic. The tables are extremely close to each other and you can hear other people’s conversations from the tables next to you. Of course you can always request a huge booth. That way, it’s not so claustrophobic and your conversations stay between your party. The upside of being on the first floor is the fact that you can see the chefs working in the kitchen so it is like a cooking show. The second floor does not have that, but you do have more privacy up there. There is also an elevator to go up there so there is handicap access. Steak is also a very dimly lit restaurant as you can tell by the pictures so it would be a good romantic setting for those who are celebrating anniversaries or a special occasion. Of course, this is a nightmare for those foodies like myself trying to take decent pictures in the dark. 🙂
If you stare up at the ceiling of Steak, you will notice a whole bunch of crazy lights. The waiter will explain to you that the artwork is inspired by the movements of Chef Ramsay’s hands while he is cooking.
At Steak, you have the choice of ordering whatever you want from the main menu individually just like at any restaurant, or you can go with the Hell’s Kitchen Limited Edition Tasting Menu which includes an appetizer, 3 course meal, and a dessert course afterwards. For the Hell’s Kitchen Menu, everyone in your party has to agree to this. You cannot be the only one in your party to order the HK tasting menu while everyone else orders their own dishes individually. You see, it’s all about the presentation and for each course, the food comes out at the same time for everyone so if you’re dying to try the HK menu, don’t invite people who you know will not agree to this. If you are a huge fan of Hell’s Kitchen, you must do this menu! You see, the tasting menu includes a lot of the dishes that the contestants on the show are required to cook such as the risotto, beef wellington, and etc. Some of the items on the HK tasting menu are not on the regular menu so you cannot order them individually if your party happens to not want to go through with the tasting menu. The HK tasting menu is $145 per person and you will also get a Gordon Ramsay autographed menu.
In the middle of the table will be an iPad which is a drink menu for those who would like to order a drink.
The HK Antioxidant is an alcoholic drink which consists of veev acai liquer, lemon, and blueberries.
The Drifter is an alcoholic drink that consists of knob creek small batch bourbon, ginger liqueur, falernum, lemon, and bitters. Yes, that is an ice cube that is in the shape of a round ball.
Just like at any restaurant, you almost always get a plate/basket full of bread and butter. Don’t fill yourself up with this if you plan on doing the HK tasting menu!
The service here has been on point. I have yet to receive bad service. The waiter always refills your water before the glass is empty. You get new utensils for each new dish presented to you. They wipe down your place setting and remove crumbs from the table & place mat before each meal is presented. Everything about this restaurant is about presentation. Don’t get me wrong, the food tastes just as good as it looks, but everything is like eye candy.
In the beginning, the waiter will roll out this huge display that has all the different types and cuts of meat that you can order at Steak. Yes, it is raw meat so if you get grossed out or are a vegetarian, close your eyes. I mean, after all, it is a steakhouse. Don’t worry, there are vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes as well.
If your party decides to order the HK Tasting Menu then you are in for a treat! I will go over the HK menu as well as individual dishes that you can order from the main menu.
Hell’s Kitchen Tasting Menu
Keep in mind that the tasting menu has slight changes made each year so don’t be surprised you are served something else for the first course instead of what you see here. For example, I was served the Beet Root Salad for one year and then for another year, the first course was an Octopus Salad. In addition, the prices may change as well.
That, my friend, is the whole Hell’s Kitchen Tasting Menu. All of the dishes tasted great and the portions were just right. We were not overly stuffed or dying from hunger at the end.
As though this blog entry wasn’t already long enough, let’s cover some dishes that you can order on the main menu! 🙂
In addition, we have ordered 4 different dishes that are off of the main menu. We ordered the half dozen oysters ($22.00), Beef Wellington ($57.00), American Kobe Rib Cap ($66.00), and the Sriracha Roasted Broccoli which came with a poached egg and chives ($13.00). Overall, these dishes tasted pretty damn good except I don’t think I would order the Sriracha Roasted Broccoli again. It tasted just like someone drizzled Sriracha sauce all over steamed broccoli. There was nothing special about it and I just didn’t think the Sriracha worked well with the broccoli. As much as I love food pictures, unfortunately, the pictures for the dishes mentioned above did not turn out so well. The lighting was a little too dark and I just don’t have the skills yet to salvage them. 🙂
Overall, the dining experience and the food tastes amazing at Gordon Ramsay’s Steak. The flavors are on point and the dishes are cooked to perfection. The prices are a little steep, but honestly, it is not as steep as compared to the other restaurants in Vegas. Moreover, remember me drilling into your brains about signing up to become a Total Rewards member in a previous post? Well, Steak is a TR restaurant so being a member, you will save money on the dishes as well as earn points! For our upcoming Vegas trip, thanks to being a TR member, we will be staying at the Paris hotel for free! Score! 🙂
P.S. Chef Gordon Ramsay sometimes shows up at Steak as well as Hell’s Kitchen contestant winners so be on the lookout. I have yet to bump into him, but maybe one day! 🙂
